Florida Intangible Tax Return May Not Have To Be Filed Preface: In prior years all Florida corporations were required to file a Florida Intangible Personal Property Tax Return, whether or not they owed tax. New tax law may exempt your corporation from filing the return Summary: In certain instances, you may be eligible to complete your business intangible tax filing requirements to the Florida Department of Revenue by checking box 9 of the 2001 Uniform Business Report (UBR), previously known as the Annual Report. (The UBR is the annual registration of your corporation with the Florida Department of State and requires a filing fee of $150.00). To qualify, you must meet one (1) of the following: 1. Owe no intangible
tax on the current year's return;
Conclusion: If you have not yet filed your UBR for 2001, you should deliver the form to us so that we can prepare the form after reviewing your status to determine whether or not you qualify to satisfy your intangible tax filing requirements by checking box 9. In the future, you should include the UBR with the other blank tax forms and documents you deliver to us at year end. This may allow us to satisfy your filing requirements by checking a box of a return you already have to file as opposed to preparing a separate return. |
